Strong Museum

Work is great!  Getting promoted was, obviously, a great surprise.  Birthday Parties are really turning in to simply "Kids Parties".  We're hosting more and more parties that aren't necessarily Birthdays.  Next week we even have a communion party.  Kind of cool when we think about it.  Berenstain Bears went off without a hitch (at least in the party sense) and all the small things have been pretty smoothed out.  We've trained a lot more so we're pretty set on staff (for once!) which is making life a lot easier when we're trying to find people to cover.

All in all, I'm feeling much better.  Be sure to make it to the museum soon to see all that's new.  Grosology will be gone this weekend but Clifford is here on the 7th of June.  Berenstain's is here to stay but still something you don't want to miss!  See it soon because it's a lot of fun.

Bridal Shower Next week

My Bridal shower is right around the corner.  That just tells me the wedding is that much closer.  I'm getting so excited but I'm nervous about getting everything together in time.  I know it will be fine, but still.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone.  A few weeks ago I got together with my brother and LOVED it.  It's not often I get to see my family and having ALL of them together is going to be great.  I really hope I get to see everyone more often, but I also know moving to North Carolina is probably going to shoot that out the window.  At least I get to see everyone this summer and have a year after that to get used to the idea.

Wedding Plans

Now I'm on to wedding plans.  Only a little more than two months left and I've gone back to being excited.  My grandpa said he'd pay for catering so my cooking is no longer happening (but we have to choose our battles right?).  We booked our honeymoon, going to Disney World!  My first time!  It overlaps my birthday so we're going to Chef Mickey's and the lady who booked our reservation put down that it's my birthday, so one of the characters is going to say happy birthday! :)

I have my fitting this week to get the bottom trimmed (it's only tulle) so I won't trip down the aisle.  My shower is in two weeks so that's going to be fun.  Then, just lots to do while taking two classes at the same time.  Hopefully, I've done enough now to get it done easily :)

End of Semester

We're done~!!  :)  This semester has been long and hard, but we've made it.  Personally, this has been my hardest semester yet.  I think I seriously took on too much knowing that I had a wedding to plan.  But, I made it so I guess thats all that matters! :)

Assistive Technology

This entire assignment was confusing as soon as I started it.  From trying to scroll a million times to complete a task to just trying to find definitions.  It made me realize how lucky I am to not have disabilities which can cause these types of problems everyday.  I have worked with a simulation similar to this at one point though.  If you're ever interested in seeing what a child with ADHD deal with in a day to day basis, google it and hopefully you'll come up with the same site I did.  It puts you through a lesson with distractions like a child with ADHD would have.  It was just as interesting as these simulations.  Frustrating, but interesting.

This assignment gave me some great ideas to use when designing my website, which I'm sure was the point.   Hopefully I'll be able to succeed in remembering them all.

My second graders

Hi all! Just wanted to share some news about one of my field work placements! I am placed in a 2nd grade classroom at Jefferson Ave. school in Fairport. We are currently working on a play: The Sneetches (Dr. Suess)! I'm so excited. Today was the first time I saw they through an entire rehearsal and they are already off book! (not using a script for those who are not theatre). They did a great job today and I'm so very proud of them all. We perform next monday (Dr. Suess's 104th Birthday). Just wanted to share the news with everyone :)

Microsoft Access

I really enjoyed this program. It was frustrating to start but once I got the hang of it I could see myself using it in the classroom a lot!
I did find a few ideas offline as well: Having students create a database ranking battles in a war, attendance records, Parent contact records, and tracking family migrations (a form of geneology)

I will admit, however, that my students would probably not use the program often, that I would use it for my own purposes for the most part.

However, if any of you have ideas on using Access with Early Childhood Classrooms, let me know!
